In the book of the  Chief of Anthropomorphism and Karramiyyah lover Ibn Taymiyyah ; [Minhaj us Sunna vol#1,pg 35 ]He makes a claim that the term " رفض "was used towards identifying Shi'a. And originated from Imam Zaynal Abideen (AS) . We reject the order of Caliphate because Allah (Swt)has " devinely appointed "the " Mawla " of Muslims to be Ali (AS)and the Prophet (SAAW) so-repeatedly  warned about Ali being his Wali and the 12 Imams from Quraysh after Him!In fact, this term is a complement rather than an insult!The term rafidha was used years before Zayin-al-abideen(AS)! 1)The Ahul Basrah(those whom rejected Ali(AS) but later embraced Mu'tazil/Murj' doctrines!)were called " Rafidh " 2)   Abdul Malik Bin Marwan asked Al-Farazdaq    Are you a Rafidhi?   Al-Farazdaq  replied  him: I f loving The Progeny of the Prophet(SAW) is Rafdh, I am a Rafidhi.
